The Coffee table computing cluster build continues

I had today off work so decided to put in a couple of hours on the table.   The main task was to sort out the air flow through the case and the placement of the power supplies and hard-drives

Since my last entry I have painted the computer mounting boards with blackboard paint to give them a nice mat finish, looks good.  I have also decided on solid sides (probably stained or painted with blackboard pant).

One of the computer mounts.
The case fan cable can be seen ready for connection to the motherboard

Inside.
Large area boxed in for power supplies/hard-drives and networking.
Space for small storage boxes, shelf for other 'stuff'
Inside shelf can be easily lifted to gain access

The other computer mount

Rear 'Side' venting and access to power supplies

The airflow is setup to draw the heat into the main body of the case, then vent through the power supply fans.  If needed I will use additional fans on the back boards (lots of space).

The mounting holes for the motherboards have been drilled and the boards test mounted (look good).

Next steps:
  • Build a frame for the hard-drives
  • Mount LED strips to highlight the mother boards
  • Make up switch and led cables
  • Build Arduino to monitor temperatures and control the LED lights
  • Varnish
